OBJECTIVES: To describe the complications, short and long-term outcome and owner satisfaction of dogs with cranial cruciate ligament rupture treated with a recently described new osteotomy for the modified Maquet technique (N-MMT).

MATERIALS AND METHODS: Medical records and radiographs of 82 dogs (84 stifles) were reviewed. Details regarding short-term outcome and complications were recorded from the medical records. Long-term follow-up information was obtained by telephone interview. Historical data and complications were statistically analysed.

OBJECTIVE:  To report clinical experiences with the tibial plateau levelling osteotomy (TPLO) procedure in small breed dogs with cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) disease using specific, conically coupled, 1.9/2.5 mm locking plates and evaluating short-term complications and outcome.

We describe a novel surgical technique used to correct feline patellar luxation (PL) where abnormal patellar tracking persists despite conventional corrective surgery.

An anatomical difference between feline and canine stifles is that the feline patella is wider relative to the trochlear sulcus. This results in less constrained patellar tracking. Therefore, patellar subluxation is common in normal cats. It was noticed that in some feline cases with clinically significant PL, PL persisted intraoperatively despite performing the standard corrective procedures.

STUDY DESIGN: Historical cohort with a nested case-control study.

Current research indicates that exogenous stem cells may accelerate reparative processes in joint disease but, no previous studies have evaluated whether bone marrow cells (BMCs) target the injured cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) in dogs. The objective of this study was to investigate engraftment of BMCs following intra-articular injection in dogs with spontaneous CCL injury. Autologous PKH26-labelled BMCs were injected into the stifle joint of eight client-owned dogs with CCL rupture.

OBJECTIVE: To compare accuracy of a noninvasive single-plane fluoroscopic analysis technique with radiostereometric analysis (RSA) for determining 3-D femorotibial poses in a canine cadaver stifle joint treated by tibial-plateau-leveling osteotomy (TPLO).

OBJECTIVES: To compare the effects of regional anaesthesia and opioid administration on adrenocortical and glycaemic responses, postoperative pain and recovery quality in dogs undergoing stifle surgery.

ANIMALS: Forty-five dogs anaesthetized for tibial tuberosity advancement or tibial plateau levelling osteotomy, and 15 healthy dogs undergoing non-invasive orthopaedic diagnostic procedures.

OBJECTIVE: To analyse the best combination of isometric points with the best kinematic results between two different approaches of TightRope® cranial cruciate ligament reconstruction.

MATERIALS AND METHODS: Cranial drawer, cranial tibial thrust, internal/external, range of motion and varus/valgus tests were passively performed in different stifle conditions: cranial cruciate ligament-intact/deficient, after F2-T2/F2-T3 TR reconstruction at 22-44-99 N of tension. Data were acquired by a custom-made navigation system.
